Safety regulations often reviewed after workplace accidents

For workers who carry out their duties outside traditional office spaces, risks for personal injury often run high. For instance, the California construction industry and other jobs involving regular use of heavy machinery or high-powered tools are considered some of the most dangerous jobs in the nation. When workplace accidents occur, employers often try to regroup and make amends by reviewing safety regulations and upgrading protocol as needed.

One employer recently said his company is willing to cooperate with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as well as his company's insurance agency, to come up with ways to prevent future problems following an incident that resulted in serious injury to one of his workers. The accident took place on a recent Monday. The employee was reportedly on a ladder at the time.

At some point, the worker fell from the ladder, on to a rooftop below. He was said to be in serious condition. The employer extended the company's sympathy and support to the injured worker and his family. He further stated that his company never wants workers to suffer injury on or off the job, and he is willing to do whatever possible to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.

Workplace accidents that result in serious injuries often leave workers partially or fully disabled on a permanent basis. This means not every worker who is injured on the job is able to return to his or her duties. The financial implications of this fact leave many families hurting when it comes to making ends meet. A California workers' compensation attorney can help financially stressed families address these issues by guiding them through the claims process to collect benefits to help pay medical bills and replace lost wages.
