Investigations of work-related deaths complicated, time consuming

Many people in California and throughout the nation bid their loved ones farewell as they head off to work each day. One can only imagine the horror of learning that a family member who said good-bye will never be coming home. Work-related deaths cause grief and devastation in families, businesses and communities.

The exact cause of a workplace accident is not always immediately apparent. Many times, extensive investigations must first be conducted in order to review a situation and determine possible causes, as well as to identify any party or parties that may have been responsible. Such is the case after a recent incident at a Goodwill store where a man suffered serious head injuries.

All that was known in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy is that the man was near a trash compactor when the accident occurred. He was rushed to an area medical center for treatment of his head wounds. Sadly, the man later succumbed to his injuries while he was still at the medical facility.

Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in California are continuing in their investigation of the fatal accident. Family members left to address the complications of work\-related deaths often fare better when assisted by experienced workers' compensation attorneys. This type of guidance can be beneficial in expediting the process of filing a claim for benefits to which a spouse or other immediate family member may be entitled after a loved one has died due to injuries in a workplace accident.
