Poor road conditions and tragic work-related deaths

Anyone who has ever driven on a wet and slippery road understands how dangerous it can be. If the vehicle being driven at the time is an enormous tractor (that happens to be fully loaded with firewood) such inclement conditions may prove disastrous. Work-related deaths on California farms often involve equipment or heavy machinery mishaps.

Gas-powered tractors were invented in the late 1890s to help farmers in their work. As with many other progressive inventions of the time, along with improvements and assets came inherent safety risks. Proper training and caution behind the wheel continues to be necessary to keep farm workers and others who operate tractors safe.

Even when someone driving a tractor adheres to all accepted safety standards, sometimes things can unexpectedly go very wrong. Such appears to have been the case for a man in another state who was moving a load of logs on his farm. His son, who was reportedly behind the tractor his father was operating at the time, said the road was wet that day. When the man attempted to navigate a sharp turn, the massive machine overturned on top of him.

Work-related deaths often leave entire farming communities grieving the loss of beloved members. The man who died in the recent tractor accident also happened to be a local school bus driver whose absence has left a great void in the lives of his own family and others. Spouses or other immediate family members might have questions regarding benefits to which they may be entitled if a decedent was working on a farm when a particular accident occurred. A  California workers' compensation attorney can provide guidance for anyone facing challenges regarding such matters in this state.
