Company shutting down after work-related deaths

Some workers in California may have had the sorrowful experience of mourning the loss of a colleague because of a workplace accident. It is rare that multiple work\-related deaths would occur in the same company. However, that is just what happened at a company in another state. Though the two deaths occurred within a week of each other, the accidents do not appear to be related.

One of the employees that died was a 23-year-old man. Sadly, he suffered a severe electric shock on the job and died as a result. When that accident occurred, another worker also suffered electrical shock and survived. The young man who died was a production engineer at the company.

Another worker, a 35-year-old woman, was injured in another work-related accident involving a crane at the same company. She later succumbed to her injuries while in the hospital. Reportedly, the exact cause of her death has not been stated, pending results from an autopsy. The Kentucky Labor Cabinet is said to be investigating both workplace accidents.

In the meantime, the company was shut down on a recent Tuesday. Work-related deaths in California or anywhere often bring devastation to entire communities, and the families of those who died are obviously left grief-stricken. It is not uncommon for them to ask many questions, wanting answers regarding their loved ones' deaths. There may also be complications concerning compensation benefits or other issues that need to be addressed. A workers' compensation attorney can provide information and guide family members through the whole process of claiming benefits that can help pay medical bills and replace lost wages under such tragic circumstances.
