California workplace accidents: Uber driver contests comp offer

Many California workers have been injured on the job, rendered incapable of continuing in their positions of employment due to their conditions. Some workplace accidents also lead to legal challenges, especially when an employer or insurance company attempts to deny a claim or convince an injured worker to accept a settlement. One man recently injured on the job said that the settlement he was offered was ridiculously low.

The man was an employee of the new trendy transportation service known as, Uber. While driving several paying passengers to their destination, his vehicle was involved in a collision with another car. The driver of the other vehicle also happened to be an Uber driver.

Allegedly, the other motorist had failed to obey a stop sign on the road. The man whose car was hit suffered a concussion and other injuries that have resulted in neck pain of an extended period of time. He says he is no longer able to perform his workplace duties.

The man explained that the $800 a week he earned through Uber was his main source of income. He said that the $21,000 he was offered as a settlement doesn't come close to being even remotely adequate. Workplace accidents can include complicated details that make obtaining a fair settlement difficult without assistance from an experienced workers' compensation attorney. Anyone hurt on the job in California who has questions about such matters, may request a meeting with a legal team to obtain answers and determine how best to address the situation.
